What is a VPS?

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machines running on a physical computer. Each physical computer might run serveral Virtual Private Servers. Although a VPS runs in software, it is in many respects functionally equivalent to a physical computer. A VPS has the privacy of a physical computer and can be configured to run server software.
